Annie Hermansen-Baez
Science Delivery/Kids in the Woods Program Manager
USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station
Annie Hermansen-Baez is a science delivery coordinator for the USFS Southern Research Station. She develops and delivers information related to wildland-urban interface, urban forestry, children and nature, and more. Annie also works with schools to encourage kids to spend more time outdoors and gain an appreciation of nature. She likes being a scientist because she gets to meet interesting people and enjoys teaching people about the benefits of nature. She is one of the cofounders of the Kids in the Woods Program.

Michael Andreu
Associate Professor
University of Florida
Dr. Michael Andreu (Dr. A) is a forestry professor at the University of Florida. He teaches students about how to identify trees and plants and about forest ecology. He also studies how forests in urban areas can provide services such as clean air, clean water, wildlife habitat and beautiful places to relax. He leads the tree identification study and is instrumental in the Kids in the Woods project development and implementation. Dr. A is one of the cofounders of the Kids in the Woods Program.

Hollie Greer
Alachua County Environmental Protection Department
Hollie Greer is an environmental specialist with the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department and is responsible for public education about water conservation and stormwater pollution. Hollie has provided environmental education in the Gainesville community for more than a decade. She teaches students at Westwood about the Hogtown Creek Watershed through the Kids in the Woods program.

Wayne Zipperer
U.S. Forest Service, Southern Research Station
Dr. Wayne Zipperer (Dr. Z) is a scientist with the U.S. Forest Service. He studies the importance of trees in cities, how to protect homes from forest fires, and how trees can benefit human health. He has traveled to every continent except Antarctica to talk about his research. Currently, he has research projects in Tampa, New Orleans, San Juan, Atlanta, and Cape Town, South Africa. He says the most gratifying part of being a scientist is working with students. Dr. Z leads the creek erosion study at Westwood.

Sally Wazny
Gainesville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs
Sally Wazny is the program coordinator for the City of Gainesville's Department of Parks, Recreation,and Cultural Affairs Environmental and Cultural Affairs programs. She leads the Kids in the Woods bird observation study.

Sara Charbonnet
Westwood Middle School
Sara Charbonnet is a sixth grade science teacher at Westwood Middle School participating in the Kids in the Woods project.

Tony Oyenarte
Camp Lochearn
Tony served as the camp director for Alachua Country School District's Camp Crystal Lake for 16 years and is currently the director for the Lochearn Camp for Girls located in Vermont. He leads our school campout in the spring.

Merald Clark is a nature assistant with Morningside Nature Center and a talented local artist. He assists with the bird observation study.
