Wayne Zipperer
Dr. Wayne Zipperer (Dr. Z) is a scientist with the U.S. Forest Service. He studies the importance of trees in cities, how to protect homes from forest fires, and how trees can benefit human health. He has traveled to every continent except Antarctica to talk about his research. Currently, he has research projects in Tampa, New Orleans, San Juan, Atlanta, and Cape Town, South Africa. He says the most gratifying part of being a scientist is working with students. Dr. Z leads the creek erosion study at Westwood.
