Lightning protection zones beneath air terminals in trees
Journal, Research (Article)
When an air terminal (lightning rod) is positioned properly in a tree, it provides a limited area below with protection from all but the most unlikely lightning event. Multiple air terminals assure that a large portion of a tree's structure is protected from the most serious lightning damage events. This publication is to help guide professions in understanding the lightning protection zones resulting below air terminals and how to visualize the most effective placement of air terminals in a tree crown.
