Benefits of urban shelterbelts

The Hay Creek Pines subdivision north of Bismarck, North Dakota, used the design principles of rural windbreak and farmstead shelterbelts in its housing development. This article discusses benefits resulting from their use, such as reduced heating needs and the provision of cooling shade.
