"This research investigates the socioeconomic and demographic factors that help explain the distribution of Milwaukees urban trees. Integrating urban forest canopy cover data from aerial photography and census data, this research shows that there is an inequitable distribution of urban trees within Milwaukee. The inequitable distribution of trees has a negative affect on the quality of life for primarily lower income and Hispanic residents of the city. Furthermore, this research shows that housing market factors that are linked with socioeconomic and demographic factors in Milwaukee also help explain urban forest inequity." [Abstract]
