The Town of Cary (NC) discussion of Conservation Subdivision Design (CSD) with case studies.

CSD is a relatively simple, four-step process to identify the most significant natural and cultural resources on a given tract of land, and thereby determine the most suitable "building envelopes" from a preservation viewpoint.

This four-step process can be used to identify and then protect trees and groups of trees on construction sites by forst delineating tree save areas and then making them off limits to construction activity.
