Survey of damage caused by forest insects in the Southeast, CY 2003

Abstract: This report contains figures and statistics on losses caused by forest insects during calendar year 2003. The data in this report were submitted by a number of southern states, the USDA Forest Service Region 8, and the Western Gulf Forest Tree Improvement Program. The supplied information is compiled into a report which is disseminated at the annual Southern Forest Insect Work Conference.<br><br> The report has five sections, each dealing with a different damage class. The damage classes are: A � Mortality, B � Growth Reduction, C � Seed and Cone, D � Miscellaneous, and E � Oak Defect and Degrade. When possible, loss figures are separated to distinguish federal from state or private ownership.
