Irrigation Basics: A Guide to Smart Water Use

This New Mexico pamphlet describes the process of converting your irrigation system after a water friendly xeriscape has been created.

The increased demand for limited water resources has created a new form of water efficient landscaping called xeriscaping.  After conversion of the land has been completed, it may be necessary to ensure an irrigation system is properly installed.  This pamphlet discusses the components of an irrigation system and the different types available based on the flora.  In many cases, existing sprinklers can be converted to a water efficient drip system.  There is also a maintenance checklist that helps sustain a xeriscape for years to come.
