Emerald Ash Borer Toolkit For Wisconsin Communities
This toolkit is a resource for local governments to prepare for and respond to the anticipated arrival of emerald ash borer.
An estimated 20-30% of Wisconsin's street and park trees are ash. The invasion of the emerald ash borer will have an extreme effect on the landscape in the urban setting. Due to the high estimated costs of removal and replacement, the Wisconsin DNR has created an action plan. This binder includes information on prevention, identification, and control of the pest. There is also a section on removal and utilization which describes options for salvages resources destroyed by the pest. In addition to the information typed up the for the readiness plan, there are also inserted resources. There are printed powerpoint presentations and FAQ sheets from the websites of states already experiencing the pest problem. Also, there are inserts in the binder with a poster, pamphlet, and bumbersticker from the Wisconsin DNR.
This toolkit was compiled in early 2007. Updated downloadable kits can be found at: http://dnr.wi.gov/forestry/uf/eab/.
