Buckthorn (Connecticut)
This information sheet describes the methods necessary to remove this invasive plant in Connecticut.
The common buckthorn and European buckthorn shade out native tree seedlings and produce seed prolifically. Mechanical control methods are only effective if done frequently and certain chemical control methods will be less effective depending on the season. The information sheet describes how biological control is in being researched, but not implemented at the moment.
