Asiatic Bittersweet, Oriental Bittersweet Celastrus orbiculatus Staff Tree Family (Celastraceae)
This information sheet describes the methods necessary to remove this invasive plant in Connecticut.
This vine is detrimental to trees and there is evidence that it is hybridizing with the native American bittersweet. Weekly mowing is an effective control of this vine. However, mowing less often will actually increase sucker growth. The information sheet states that the most effective method for treating large patches of the invasive bittersweet it through cut stump treatment.
