Maintance of trees growing near electric distribution facilities is one of the highest annual maintenance expenses ezperienced by utilities. It is also usually the first area to receive budget reductions during lean years. Most utility foresters agree that funds are simply inadequate to poperly maintain facilities for service reliability. This article promtes the practice of lateral pruning to reduce costs.
