New Kids in the Woods Video
posted Mar 27, 2019 12:12 PM by doutlaw

This video highlights the Kids in the Woods program in Gainesville, FL, which is a partnership between the USDA Forest Service, the University of Florida, the Alachua County School District, the City of Gainesville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs, and the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department. Sixth grade students at Westwood Middle School learn about birds, creek erosion, and urban trees through participation in hand-on outdoor science studies on the school campus and in a nearby nature park. Additionally, sixty students are selected each year through a lottery to participate in an overnight school camp out with help from Camp Lochearn and Camp Crystal.
