Ignited by the huge wildfires of 1999-2000, fire-protection laws are blazing up across the United States, fanned by winds of fear and fed by more than a billion dollars of federal money. Many of these laws contain provisions that threaten both the health of America's native landscapes and the livelihood of American landscape architects. Yet the great majoroity of landscape professionals seem unaware of the dangers-- either of fire or of fire protection. |
