Abstract: Community deevelopment is rapidly expanding within many areas of the southern United States. Urban centers are being pushed outward into the surrounding forested and agricultural ares. This zone of new development into rural areas is known as the wildland urban interface (WUI). The WUI interface has been described as "an area where various structures (most notably private homes) and other human developments meet or are intermingled with forest or other vegetative fuel types" (Kline, et al.,2004) Many homeowners often prefer living on wooded landscape which offer quiet privacy, backyard wildlife,a nd direct connection to nature. But with these many benefits comes afew responsibilities to living within the wiodland fire.
