Abstract: |
Recent research has suggested that Americans' participation in nature-based outdoor recreation has declined since the 1980s and early 1990s and implied that funding and support for natural resource conservation could suffer. Other data suggest that their interests are increasing. Some of the speculation that nature-based outdoor recreation is declining is based on the growing use of electronic entertainment by both adults and youth. This factor of decline could have a major consequence such as reducing federal, state, and other funding for natural resource conservation and for recreation management. |
