Abstract: The atmosphere’s concentration of carbon dioxide has increased by more then 30 percent over the last 250 years, largely due to human activity. This article addresses the current and future challenges of solving the 21st century climate problem. The problem of increasing global carbon dioxide emissions is reviewed in depth, and potential mitigation strategies are presented and examined as possible solutions for the global climate crisis.
