Abstract: Objectives of the Symposium and Workshop on Protecting People and Homes from Wildfire in the Interior West were to examine the problems of protecting wildland homes from fire; reveal the threat of wildfire damage to life and property and the high cost to every taxpayer through increased taxes and insurance rates; present state-of-the-art approaches to the home-wildfire program; and develop recommendations for homeowners, government agencies, fire assistance personnel, and the business community to help solve the home-wildfire problems in the interior west.
