Prescribed fire and wildlife in southern forests: Proceedings of a symposium

Author: Wood, G.W., ed.

Abstract: The considerations of fire effects were, by-in-large, restricted to prescribed fire in this Symposium. This was because fire is prescribed for land management purposes to a greater extent in the South than in any other region of the United States. It has been traditional to cite improved conditions for wildlife as a benefit of prescribed burning or as a goal for fire prescription. Thus, prescribed fire and wildlife have been closely associated in perception, if not by definitions.
