Abstract: This chapter provides an overview of managing and planning for recreation in the wildland-urban interface. It will explain the most important issues, concepts, and methods for nature-based recreation management in these areas. Moreover, it will go beyond simply helping managers work with unacceptable environmental impacts and social conflicts and discuss ways in which planners and mangers can help provide for the diverse benefits potentially derived from recreation in the wildland-urban interface.
