People moving to the countryside: case studies of decision-making

Author: Harper, Sarah
Date: 1991
Periodical: In: People in the Countryside: Studies of Social Change in Rural Britain
Abstract: This chapter concentrates on settlements within the rural-urban interface. The main migration factors operating at the regional level are discussed briefly before an examination is undertaken of individual household relocation decisions. In each case, however, account is taken both of the general migration context of the household and the specific factors seen as important to the individuals in the relocation decision.
