Patterns on the land: our choices-our future

Author: Smyth, P.

Periodical: Lansing, MI: Planning and Zoning Center, Inc. 75 p.
Abstract: This publication synthesizes key data, observations and findings of a 20 month project to document land use trends in Michigan. Eleven separate working papers ranging from 100 to 215 pages apiece comprise the research upon which this publication is based. The combined 1500 pages represents the first comprehensive effort to document land use trends on a statewide basis. A few reports by the State Planning Commission in the 1930s and 1940s and one by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in 1976 are the only known previous attempts to gather and report land use data on a statewide basis. This project is known as the Michigan Society of Planning Officials (MSPO) Trend Future Project.
