New Jersey's antilogging ordinance

Author: Hogan, Edward
Date: 1983
Periodical: Northern Logger & Timber Processor
Abstract: During the past several years many local governments have enacted ordinances which prohibit, restrict or condition forest management activities, most notably timber harvesting. The proliferation of local regulation has taken many forms: requiring the posting of bonds before operating logging trucks, limitations on the hours of logging, approval of plans by the local zoning enforcement officer and even total prohibition of timber harvesting. Some of these regulations have very obvious and direct effect upon loggers; others, though just as onerous, are much more subtle.
