Abstract: On Election Day 2001, voters in 17 states approved state and local ballot measures that generated $1.2 billion in funding for recreational lands, water supplies, productive farmland and other open space. All told in 2001, 137 measures were approved by voters – totaling almost $1.7 billion for open space and parks.
