Abstract: A group of 60 forestry practitioners who work in wildfire risk prevention and several social science researchers gathered together near Lyons, CO to share ideas and tackle social issues that shape decisions and behavior regarding wildfire risk mitigations in the wildland urban interface. This article discusses the frustrations and challenges that are raised when dealing with social issues in wildfire prevention, and makes recommendations for future collaboration between social scientists and forest/fire practitioners.
