FIREWISE Communities workshop: participant workbook: making sensible choices in the wildland/urban interface

Abstract: Recognizing the value of collaboration in addressing wildland/urban interface fire problems, the National Wildland/Urban Interface Fire Program developed the series of FIREWISE Communities workshops to bring diverse disciplines and professions together-not in hundreds at large national conferences but in smaller, more intimate groups. This approach promotes networking on a smaller scale, builds a national resource, addresses the differences in interface conditions by region, and demonstrates how and why FIREWISE concepts need to be blended into community planning for all natural disasters.
