Designing for diversity

Author: Goldsmith, Jack
Date: 1994
Periodical: National Parks
Abstract: We are not achieving the goals of the National Park Service (NPS) if the treasures of the park system are not being enjoyed by all elements of society. The troubling imbalance has persisted long after a policy was implemented in the 1960s to boost a variety of public services and to add urban sites such as Gateway National Recreation Area in New York and New Jersey. The policy’s intent was to make parks more accessible to lower-income people and other underrepresented groups.
