Blazing a trail in the wildlands

Author: Mills, Pamela
Date: 1998
Periodical: Wildfire
Abstract: It has become an all-too-familiar sight; lives and property under siege from colossal wildfires. This tragedy has been played out time and time again; throughout Florida, California, Colorado, and many other states. Anywhere that the boundaries between man and nature are unwittingly and dangerously blurred, the potential for catastrophic loss exists. . And, stated Ray Bizal, manager of code development for the International Fire Code Institute (IFCI), with the way urbanization is going, the tendency to create habitation in wildland areas is only increasing, and consequently, so are the potential hazards to the built environment.
