Abstract: A series of computer generated maps of the city of Fort Thomas, Kentucky were used to illustrate and analyze various criteria to assist in the preparation of a city-wide comprehensive land use plan. Forest cover, soils, slope and geology data are used to identify areas where forest cover is critical to slope stability. GIS was used to develop a composite rating system which classifies all areas within the city as to their suitability and limitations for development uses.
