High School Students + Community Tree Inventory + STRATUM = Success
A two-week i-Tree pilot project was conducted at an at-risk high school in Panama City, FL. It involved using students to collect data on trees on school property and analyzing the data using STRATUM. Teachers concluded that students had an increased understanding of the benefits of urban forests and that the hands-on element kept students engaged during this program.
The object of this project was to determine if high school students or community volunteers could undertake a tree inventory using the new i-Tree software, understand the results, and apply what they learned. (from document)
