Youth and Urban Forestry Work: studies of developmental benefits

Youth work and urban forest stewardship provide adolescents with the opportunity to benefit from nature based work experiences. A research study was conducted to assess these claims using social science methods.

Youth work and urban forest stewardship provide adolescents with the opportunity to benefit from nature based work experiences.  A research study was conducted to assess these claims using social science methods.  Within the research study, two directions of study were observed: "Summer urban forestry programs" and "Comparing professionals and youth."  Specific topics integrated in the study such as "adolescent self concept" and "civic action" are given, and the results of the study are summarized.
