Municipal Tree Management in the United States: A 1994 Report

Survey results and studies on municipal tree programs.

This 73 page booklet describes a survey of municipal tree management programs throughout the United States. The study was designed to achieve the following benefits:

  • Provide municipal arborists and urban foresters in communities of almost any size with an "average" for thier region and population size by which to judge thier own operations and comprehensive review of the activities currently being used in urban forest management.
  • Determine the estimated budget currently being used by municipalities to maintain public trees.
  • Identify possible funding sources, including grants, cooperative programs with volunteer groups and other non-municipal sources of funding for tree care.
  • Identify municipal administrators' beliefs about the benefits and challenges of the urban forest.

Size:  8.5" by 11" booklet.
