Hartford’s Urban Forest – The Challenge
This article discusses the current status of Hartford’s urban tree canopy and steps for improvement in the future.
The Urban Forest Effects program was used to collect and analyze data on the 568 thousand trees in the city of Hartford. After analysis, the benefits of the current tree population were summarized. These benefits included canopy cover, annual carbon remove, and energy savings. The article follows with five steps to continue to increase the number of trees in the city.
