Georgia Urban Forestry Innovation Award
A description of the Georgia Science & Engineering Fair Special Award for Urban Forestry.
The Georgia Urban Forestry Innovation Award (Senior Division) is sponsored by the Georgia Urban Forest Council, Georgia Forestry Commission, and the USDA Forest Service (Region 8 U&CF Program and Urban Forestry South).
This award is made to the High School science fair project that meets one of the broadly defined urban forestry areas of interest that include:
- urban forest and/or tree management
- urban forest and/or tree health (insects & disease)
- urban planning & green infrastructure
- urban forest or tree measurements
- tree related energy conservation/climate change
- tree growth modeling/biomass
- urban tree/forest mapping accuracy and techniques
- urban watershed or urban riparian management
- urban wood utilization
Awarded to the Georgia high school student (Senior Division) project that uniquely addresses urban forestry issues and meets the GSEF and urban forestry judging criteria outlines in this document.
The science fair is held in Athens, Georgia; March 21-23, 2013.
