City of Bismarck, North Dakota Street Tree Resource Analysis

Summary of the Center for Urban Forest Research's study analyzing if the benefits derived from the street tree population in Bismarck, North Dakota validates the Bismarck Forestry Department annual budget expenditure.

This 75-page document is the Center for Urban Forest Research's analysis to determine if the benefits derived from the street tree population in Bismarck, North Dakota validates the Bismarck Forestry Department (BFD) annual budget expenditure. The analysis looks at past and present managment practices of the BFD; a street tree species, age, and condition rating inventory (with recommended management needs); and the BFD's allocation of funds. Energy savings, water and air quality improvement, and increases in property value as the result of Bismarck's street trees are determined and compiled to obtain total annual net benefits and a benefit-cost ratio. The final portion of the analysis is suggested management implications for the future. 8.5" x 11"
