A Look at Community Capacity to Conserve Open Space in the Twin Cities Area
This report is based on results of a questionnaire that examined local government capacity to conserve parks and natural areas in the 11-county Twin Cities (Minnesota) metro area.
This 8.5x11, 79-page report summarizes the results collected from a broad range of local governments about current approaches to natural resource conservation and protection, including the prioritizing and policymaking efforts that contribute to conservation. The questionnaire explored numerous community conditions and factors that may influence a particular community's ability and capacity to balance development and conservation. The results provide valuable information about local government activities related to natural resource conservation and protection. Periodic replication of this questionnaire over time can reveal trends that may help communities learn more about which activities act as critical precursors to park and natural area protection and restoration efforts.
