University Of Kentucky Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Arboretum Park

"The Arboretum was created in 1991 as a joint effort between the University of Kentucky and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.

Named in March, 2000 the "Official State Botanical Garden for the Commonwealth of Kentucky," the Arboretum is 100 acres of preserved green space in the heart of Lexington. Construction is already underway on the next phase of the Arboretum. The visitor education center will provide a headquarters for the Arboretums many activities.

Offering visitors a haven for passive recreation in a beautiful, natural setting, the Arboretum is complete with attractions to interest everyone -- from the most seasoned gardeners to those who want only to be out among the trees.

The arboretum is open 365 days a year from dawn to dusk. Admission is free."
